August

August closed out our summer vacation well.  Kim came out with her kids and spent some time with us.  We enjoyed playing, going to the spray park and getting snow cones.  We always enjoy our cousin time.

Our true adventure for the month was our attempt at camping.  We decided to go to an outdoor theater and camp the weekend before my birthday.  We got to our campsite and set up and set out to play.  We played in the river, ate dinner and went out on the four wheelers.  Then it was off the play.  A little before intermission a storm started to come in.  By intermission there was lighting, thunder, wind and rain.  The play was cancelled and we headed to our campsite.  We found our tent collapsed and most our sleeping gear wet.  We packed everything up and headed home, only to get stopped for an hour and a half while they got live power lines off the road.  We got home about 2:30 am.  The next morning we made the breakfast we had packed and ate it outside.  It will always be a memorable trip.

We celebrated my birthday a few days later and the kids started school Aug 22nd.  Tyler started the 19th for 6th grade orientation.

Another fun thing was a rendering of Moses's tabernacle that they traveled through the wilderness using.  It was fascinating how they set everything up to resemble it and taught about the symbolism all leading to Jesus Christ.  It was held at the Scentsy head quarters here in Meridian.
